Sona Investments, Inc. and Sona Investments, Inc. d/b/a Shawn Johanson (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Company”) are committed to protecting the privacy and security of the information we collect from individuals who visit https://www.shawnjohanson.com and/or https://www.sonainvestments.com (collectively, our “Sites”). 

This Website Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you access the Sites, and you interact with us through other digital services and electronic communications (“Web Properties”). This Privacy Policy applies to all of our Web Properties. 

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected or used by any third party, affiliate, or affiliate of a third party, including those that can be accessible via the Sites. We encourage you to review the privacy statements of websites to which you choose to link from our Sites so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your information. We are not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites outside of our family of Web Properties. 

Before accessing, using, or interacting with the Web Properties you should carefully review this Privacy Policy. We may change our Privacy Policy from time to time and encourage you to review it whenever you interact with us.  

User Consent: By choosing to interact with us, including through our Web Properties and by communicating with us via email, telephone or in person, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy and you represent that you are at least 18 years old, or that your representative acting on your behalf is at least 18 years old. If you are under the age of 18, or you or your representative do not consent to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal information as set forth in this Privacy Policy, please exit and do not use our Web Properties.  

Collection of Your Personal Information

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless noted otherwise, when we use the term “personal information,” we mean information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular person or household (“personal information”). Personal information” does not include: (i) publicly available information from government records or (ii) de-identified or aggregated consumer information. 

When interacting with our Web Properties, we may collect the following personal information: 

  • Information you provide in our Coaching Application Form, such as your name, email address, phone number, professional background, business information, and any additional details you provide in connection with your coaching inquiry 

•  Information you provide in an inquiry form, including a Keynote Speaking Inquiry Form, such as your name, email address, phone number, organization name, event details, audience description, and any additional details you provide  

  • Information you provide for private, special events we facilitate, such as your name, email address, postal address, and payment information 

Other than provided above, regarding private, special event information, we do not process payments through the Sites. All invoicing and payments are handled externally through separate written agreements. 

We also receive and store certain types of information automatically when you interact with us online or with the Sites. When you visit the Sites, our third-party service providers or our hosting environment may collect: 

•  IP address and approximate geographic location 

•  Browser type and version 

  • Pages visited and time spent on the Sites 

•  Referring URL and device information 

This Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect any such additions before they are implemented. 

Cookies

Our third-party service providers that host our Sites may place cookies or similar tracking technologies on your device when you visit the Sites. You may configure your browser to refuse cookies; however, some features of the Sites may not function properly as a result. We do not independently deploy cookies beyond what these vendors set as part of standard platform operation. 

How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information

We collect and store information that you give us directly through our Web Properties. For example, when you: 

  • Provide information through our Coaching Application Form or Keynote Speaking Inquiry Form; 

  • Send us a message through our Web Properties; 

  • Subscribe to our notifications or mailings; 

  • Schedule a session with us;    

  • Use site-based search functions. 

We may use and process the information we collect for one or more of the purposes described in Privacy Policy. For example, we may use information about you to: 

  • Review and respond to coaching applications and keynote speaking inquiries; 

  • Communicate with you about your submission or potential engagement; 

  • Provide informational or marketing communications, if you have consented to or opted in to those communications; 

  • Research, test, analyze, and improve our Web Properties; 

  • Allow you to participate in interactive features on our Web Properties; 

  • Detect and prevent fraud or other crimes; or, 

  • Respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law or court order.  

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. If you provide a phone number, we may use it to contact you, one-to-one, about your inquiry or potential engagement. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. If, in the future, we send text messages, we will ensure we have the appropriate, prior consent. Any text communication that takes place as part of an active coaching engagement is governed by your separate written agreement with us. 

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances: 

  • Within the Sona Investments Family: We may use and share your personal information internally to run our practice, improve your experience, and contact you when necessary. 

  • Trusted Service Providers: We use certain trusted third-party service providers (“Service Providers”) to help us perform, improve, protect, and promote services on our behalf. Specifically, we use Squarespace, WordPress, and other Service Providers who assist in operating the Sites or communicating with you. These Service Providers only have access to information needed to perform tasks on our behalf in compliance with this Privacy Policy, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. 

  • Lawful Requests and Safety: We will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on us or the Sites; (b) protect and defend our rights or property; (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Sites or the public; and (d) meet our obligations under state or federal law.  

  • Business Transfers: If we purchase other businesses or their assets, sell our business assets, or are involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information, including any category of personal data collected by us, may be among assets sold or transferred and may be subsequently used by a third-party. 

•  With Your Consent: in any other circumstance, with your explicit permission. 

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, maintain business records, and comply with applicable legal obligations.  

Application and inquiry data not resulting in an engagement will generally be retained for a reasonable period and then deleted or anonymized. 

Data Security

We respect website visitors' right to privacy and security and have, therefore, implemented industry-standard security features on our Sites. 

We realize that you trust us to protect your personal information. We take that trust seriously and maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that are consistent with industry standards, to help protect the privacy, accuracy, and reliability of personal information and to protect it from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, acquisition, exfiltration, alteration and destruction. We also take reasonable steps to ensure that our Service Providers protect your information. If we are made aware of a Service Provider using or disclosing information improperly, we will take commercially reasonable steps to end or correct such improper use or disclosure. 

 While we make every effort to secure and protect the information in our possession, and account for the protection of information provided to our Service Providers through us, no security system is perfect, and we cannot promise that information about you will remain secure in all circumstances. Please do your part to help us keep your information secure.  

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted to this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Continued use of the Sites following an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
